Valiant
Client: Self-promotional Identity
Notes: I hope nobody steals my name!
The challenge was to create an identity that is recognizable, memorable, and can be used in many applications to increase brand awareness for a graphic designer breaking into the field.
The identity developed from the meanings and origins of each part of the name, "Stephanie Renee Stark"; Stephanie, from the Greek root meaning "crown", Renee meaning "born again" at its Latin root, and Stark meaning "strong" in German. The Greek root of the name inspired the use of Greek pottery, the Medusa, and the Hydra as muses for the logo. It is a woman's face, divided in half. She wears a laurel, and her hair is ivy-like and natural.
The design elements from the logo were used to create brand recognition on other collateral, and the word to tie them all together was the word valiant, meaning "courageous, brave in the face of danger."
The valiant coaster set is a limited run of screenprints on durable paper coasters, heat sealed after printing. Only 13 complete sets were made.
